A taxi driver has died in hospital, one day he suffer massive head trauma during a freak accident when his head was trapped between his car door and car body.
The accident took place on Tuesday (14 June) at the Premier Taxi headquarters at Changi South Avenue 2. According to Chinese newspapers, the driver had accidentally stepped on his accelerator while attempting to insert his cash card into a reader.
As his car door was open, the car lurched forward, and his head got trapped between the car door and car body.
The 59 year-old was extracted by the SCDF, who received a distress call at 7.50pm, and took him immediately to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he died yesterday (15 June).
His wife, 57, was reportedly waiting for her husband to come home for dinner when she received the bad news. By the time she reached the hospital, he was already brain dead.
The couple were intending to celebrate his 60th birthday on 18 June. He leaves behind two daughters, aged 25 and 30.
