SBS DRIVER STOPS SERVICE MIDWAY, ASK COMMUTERS FOR PERMISSION TO PUT OUT CAR FIRE

On 6 June 2016 (Monday) along Farrer Road, a stationary white car was in flames and emitting white smoke. A nearby service 153 SBS bus driver, Jiang Hong stopped his bus, sought permission from his passengers to halt the bus service before rushing to the aid of the burning vehicle.

Jiang used the extinguisher on his bus and helped a taxi driver who was also battling the fire. He fought the flames until the SCDF personnel arrived and carried on his bus journey. When interviewed, Jiang said he felt compelled to help because it was a civic-minded thing to do.

Both Jiang and the taxi driver were commended by ComfortDelgro.
