EXEMPLARY 12 Y.O ASHVIN WHO HELPED IN ACCIDENT HONOURED BY SCDF

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) has honoured 12 year old Ashvin Gunasegaran with the Public Spiritedness Award.

Young Ashvin caught the public’s eye when he rendered assistance to the drivers of the vehicles involved in a traffic accident on 31 May 2016. One of the drivers had told him that she was stuck and asked for Ashvin’s help to open the door of her car. He also learnt that the driver of the other car was pregnant and that her leg was bleeding.

When Ashvin was asked why had he not approach an adult for help, he replied, “I don’t know!! Everybody was so busy crowding around taking pictures or videos. I don’t know why nobody came to help!!”

His sister had recounted Ashvin’s good deed on Facebook. Til date, the viral post has been shared 2 200 times.
