FOREIGN WORKER KILLED ON WORKSITE, PIERCED BY WIRE MESH

A foreign worker died at a construction site at Tampines St 62 on 26 April 2016.

The 24 year old worker was unloading bundles of steel mesh when they suddenly dropped. The worker could not avoid them in time. 3 of the wires pierced through his throat. He died on the spot.

The worker was from Batlagundu, Tamil Nadu, India. He had been working in Singapore for 6 months. He was transferred to the Tampines worksite 2 days ago.

It is believed that there was a fault in the lifting gear of the lorry that was carrying the steel mesh.
