RESIDENTS EXTINGUISHED FIRE, EVACUATED THEMSELVES BEFORE SCDF ARRIVED

Residents living above and below the 7th floor of a block in Eunos Crescent today were in for a rude shock when they smelled smoke and felt an uncomfortable heat engulfing their homes.

Discarded items outside a flat on the 7th floor had caught fire and soon turned into a blaze, which prompted quick thinking residents to use pails of water to put out the fire. Others evacuated themselves as they waited for the Singapore Civil Defence Force to arrive.

The fire was extinguished before SCDF firefighters arrived. They were left with the job of investigating the cause of the fire.
