In Nov 2015, the Ministry of National Development and HDB lost 2 lawsuits against AHPETC. WP’s town council was ruled to have the right to appoint any qualified accountant for their audit.
Now, HDB has renewed its complaints against AHTEC (former AHPETC) and disputed WP’s choice of accountant. HDB claims that the accountant appointed by AHTC was unreliable and inexperienced in handling audits for public institution. Instead, HDB wanted WP to appoint one of the big four accounting firms which would drastically cost more to conduct the audits.
New MND Minister Lawrence Wong has declined comment on the lawsuits. Chief Justice Menon had ruled in favour of WP confirming that they do not need to pay the legal fees of the Singapore Government. As a result, MND’s lawyer fees will be paid for by Singaporean taxpayers.
