CONVICTED S’POREAN TERRORIST SEEKS INDON CITIZENSHIP TO AVOID DETENTION IN S’PORE

A convicted terrorist from Singapore , Mohammad Hassan Saynudin (Fajar Taslim) intends to live in Indonesia when his jail sentence ends and wants to apply for Indonesian citizenship.

According to his lawyer Achmad Michdan, Hassan must renounce his Singapore citizenship before he is able to apply for Indonesian citizenship. He says that Hassan dreads deportation to Singapore because he could be detained indefinitely under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Hassan is an associate of Mas Selamat Kastari and currently serving an 18 years jail term for killing a Christian school teacher and for planning attacks against Westerners in Indonesia. Since his verdict, Hassan has shown no remorse for his actions and proclaimed he did not recognise the judicial system.
