SBS TRANSIT APPLIES TO PTC FOR TRANSPORT FARE “REVISION”

Public transport operator SBS Transit announced on 30 September 2015 that they have applied to the PTC (Public Transport Council) for a transport fare revision aka fare hike. Since the inception of the PTC, every revision resulted in a fare increase and never once was there a submission for lower transport fares.

The PTC last raised public transport fares in April 2015. Similarly, SBS announced that its quarterly profits was 22.8% higher than in 2014.

It remains to be see if PTC will approve SBS Transit’s latest request for fare revision on the back of ex-Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew’s promise of no more fare increases this year.
