DRIVER KENA SAMAN FOR WEAR SLIPPERS WHILE DRIVING IN MALAYSIA

Dear Editors,

We Singaporeans are practical and the weather is so erratic, hot one min and pouring the next so our attire tends to be flip flops and shorts. But if you like to drive into Malaysia, you better beware and put on covered shoes.

In a recent Facebook complaint by a Malaysian kaki, Bolehland traffic police will not hesitate to issue samans for those driving with a pair of slippers. They do not give face to Malaysians what more a ‘fat rich’ Singaporean tourist?

If you see the image, the saman was issued to the kaki in Kuching Sarawak and the reason state was unbelievable – driving in flip flops. The next time you take a drive / ride into Malaysia for your weekend getaway or shopping run, take note and wear shoes to be safe.

Or else you may find yourself facing a a hefty saman.
