HAZE CONDITION TO WORSEN DUE TO WINDS BLOWING SMOG FROM SUMATRA

Haze conditions in Singapore have worsened today as winds blew denser haze from Sumatra to the island.

As at 9AM today, the 24 hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) stood at 183, which falls within the unhealthy range of 159 – 194. The 3-hourly PSI stood at 197.

NEA says that bad air conditions are expected to continue and there could be a further deterioration in the air quality later today.

The 24-hour PSI for the next 12 hours is expected to be in the high end of the unhealthy range and the low end of the very unhealthy range (201-300), and may enter the mid-section of the very unhealthy range if denser haze from Sumatra continues to be blown in.
