SDP UNVEILS HEALTHCARE WORKER & EX-NAVY REGULAR AS CANDIDATES FOR GE2015

At a press conference held on 25 August 2015, the Singapore Democratic Party or SDP announced its first two candidates for the upcoming General Elections. Party Secretary-General Chee Soon Juan unveiled Chong Wai Fung, 45 and Khung Wai Yeen, 34 as their candidates. Both candidates have been active with the SDP since GE2011 but it is still unclear where they will contest in.

Ms Chong Wai Fung is the Treasurer of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP). She is also an expert in public health, holding two Masters degress, one a Masters in Public Health, specialising in Clinical Epidemiology from the National University of Singapore (NUS), and the other a Masters of Business Administration from the the University of Adelaide in Australia. Wai Fung is presently the Administrator of Ren Ci Nursing Home (Moulmein).

Khung Wai Yeen (江伟贤), 34, is an Accounts Manager in a European multinational company. He began his career as an Engineering Naval Specialist with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). The years in the Navy provided the necessary training for him to excel as a team player. Being appointed as a Chief Engineering Naval Specialist also gave him the opportunity to demonstrate his leadership. He left the RSN in 2010 after 8 years of service to join the private sector. Wai Yeen’s passion for politics was ignited during the 2011 General Election.
