PRESIDENT TONY TAN DISSOLVES PARLIAMENT, WRIT OF ELECTION EXPECTED SOON

On Tuesday (25 August 2015), Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong adviced President Tony Tan and Singapore’s 12th Parliament was dissolved. With this move, a General Election has to be held in the next 3 months and many predict it to take place in September.

President Tony Tan will issue a Writ of Election which specifies when Nomination Day is. Nomination Day has to be no earlier than 5 days or no later than 1 month after the Writ is issued.

The latest EBRC carved up Singapore into 89 seats in 29 constituencies. This is up from the 87 seats in the previous Parliament.
