PRC WOMAN JAILED 3 WEEKS FOR OFFERING S$200 BRIBE TO CUSTOMS OFFICIAL

Zhu Xiaolu, a PRC national, was charged on 26 June 2015 for offering a S$200 bribe to Higher Customs Officer Siow Teck Meng to release a batch of commercial goods worth US$10,210 (S$14,145) without having to apply for a permit.

Officer Siow rejected the money and reported the matter to the CPIB. In Singapore, it is an offense to bribe or attempt to bribe any public officers. Those convicted of doing so face up to a 5 year jail term or a $100,000 fine.

For her bribery attempt, Zhu Xiaolu was sentenced to 3 weeks imprisonment.
