SENIOR CIVIL SERVANT CHEE HONG TAT RESIGNS TO CONTEST IN GE2015

The second Permanent Secretary for Trade and Industry Chee Hong Tat submitted his resignation and his last day at work is on 11 August 2015. This is a sign that he Mr Chee is likely to enter politics in the coming elections. Public servants are required to resign before they are allowed to enter politics.

Mr Chee has been attending community events in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC with PAP MP Hri Kumar Nair, who is expected to retire from politics. He accompanied Mr Nair at a durianparty last Saturday and shook hands with Thomson-Toa Payoh residents.

Chee joined the Administrative Service in 1998 and held various appointments in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Finance, Transport and Education. In 2008, he was also the PPS to Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew. .

For his significant contributions to the public service, Chee was awarded the Silver Public Administration Medal in 2010.
