S’POREANS TO PAY 3.6% MORE GAS TARIFFS DUE TO RISE IN FUEL COSTS

City Gas announced on Wednesday that household gas tariffs will be increased by 3.6% or 0.63 cent per kilowatt hour (kWh).

For the third quarter of 2015, gas tariffs will increase from 17.62 cents per kWh to 18.25 cents per kWh. After factoring in 7% GST, the revised tariffs would be 19.53 cents for every kWh.

This increase is due to a 12.7% rise in fuel costs from the previous quarter. City Gas reviews the tariffs based on guidelines set by the Energy Market Authority, which is the regulator for the gas industry.
