SMRT: 1 MAN CAUGHT SMOKING ON MRT IDENTIFIED, ISSUED NOTICE OF OFFENCE

1 of the men who were caught smoking in an MRT cabin has been identified and issued a Notification of Offence, SMRT said yesterday in a statement,

A viral video of 2 men smoking in a train passing Bukit Batok at night was uploaded on social media last month, which sparked outrage among netizens, who criticized the duo for blatantly floating anti-smoking laws on the MRT. In the video, 2 men are seen passing around a lit cigarette while a 3rd man films the act. One of them was heard telling the others he would upload the video on Facebook.

According to SMRT, it had sought the help of the authorities to identify the man.

"This is indeed a brazen act," says SMRT. "With the help of the authorities, we have identified one of the persons involved and issued a Notification of Offence."
