TARIFFS TO INCREASE IN JULY, EXPECT HIGHER ELECTRICITY BILLS

SP Services announced that starting tomorrow the 1 July 2015, electricity tariffs will increase by an average of 1.54 cents per kWh, or 7.5 per cent.

The new tariff for households has been set at 22.41 cents per kWh, rising from the 20.87 cents per kWh in the present quarter.

Due to the 15.1% increase in cost of natural gas, prices have to rise until 30 September 2015.

With the latest increase, a typical 4 room HDB flat can expect electricity bills to increase by an average of $6.01. This is the first increase in electricity tariffs after last years full year of decline.
