MOH: WHATSAPP MESSAGE ABOUT FREE TRANSPORT VOUCHERS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS IS WRONG

A WhatsApp message about senior citizens being eligible for a $50 public transport voucher if they visit any SMRT office today is false and misleading, says the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Although MOH will be providing a SG50 Seniors discount on transport for senior citizens, the redemption period starts only next monday, 15th June, as opposed to the message which claims that redemption is for today only.

Senior citizens who are eligible for the redemption of these discount vouchers will receive a redemption letter stating their eligibility.

According to the WhatsApp message, users were asked to “inform anyone above the age of 60years old (sic) that today if they go to any of the SMRT Offices, they can top up $50 for free, its a SG50 promotion”.
