21 year-old Mohamed Aslam Shahul has died on Thursday after a wave crashed into him while he was taking a selfie near the edge of a 2 metre high cliff, causing him to lose his balance and sending him plunging down into the ocean.
He was on a holiday with 8 friends at the Sandi Bay Beach.
According to local police, Shahul was unable to swim as he slipped into the ocean. Villagers found his body at 5 metres underwater and brought him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared his death.
His body is expected to be flown home to Singapore today.
