PRC PASSENGERS ASSAULT AIRPORT STAFF AFTER FLIGHTS DELAYED DUE TO THUNDERSTORM

According to news reports, PRC passengers created a commotion at Shenzhen’s Baoan Airport by throwing meal boxes and bottles at China Southern Airlines’ service counter staff, some were even threatened with violence.

The incident started at 7pm when passengers at Baoan Airport were informed that their flights would be delayed due to heavy thunderstorms.

After waiting for four hours, people started getting agitated when their flights did not resume. They asked for financial compensation, food and accomodation which was delivered at 11pm.

However, it was too late as quarrels have escalated and meal boxes, mineral water bottles and instant noodles were hurled towards the service counter staff. One man was arrested after he climbed over the counter to beat up one of the staff.

Passengers eventually left at 4am.
