Our Singapore, the National Day song for Singapore’s 50th year of independence, has been unveiled.

Songwriter Dick Lee, 57, who penned the song, will sing it with pop singer JJ Lin.

Mr Lee said he did not want people to compare his new song to his previous song Home, and acknowledged he felt a lot of pressure writing the new one.

The 1998 song, performed by Kit Chan, has become a classic, and is often cited as Singaporeans’ favourite National Day song.

He also wrote 2002’s We Will Get There, which was sung by Stefanie Sun.

Theme songs have been a tradition at many National Day Parades since 1984, even though there was no new song composed for the occasion last year.
