ELDERLY MAN CONDUCTS ONE MAN PROTEST AGAINST LTA IN LITTLE INDIA

Dear Editors,

A reader submitted two photos of an elderly man conducting a one-man protest against the LTA in Little India today. Holding two cardboard placards, the elderly man stood by the traffic light along Rochor Canal Road largely ignored by commuters.

It is unknown what the elderly man who looked like in his 50s is protesting about but the first line is clear that he is protesting against the Land Transport Authority.

Under the Singapore’s Public Order Act, it is illegal to protest without a permit from the Singapore Police and participants such protests can be fined up to S$5,000.

Do you think such harmless and peaceful protests should be allowed in Singapore?
