MAN CHARGED FOR PUSHING 1 YEAR-OLD BOY AND INJURING HIM ON BAIL

A man who allegedly caused serious head injuries to a 1 year-old boy by pushing him off a bed is out on bail today. The court had, during the previous hearing some weeks ago, ordered a S$10,000 cash bail, with a S$10,000 non-cash bail.

Franklie Tan Guang Wei, 24, walked in from the public gallery and took his place in the dock when his case was called on Thursday.

The case was adjourned to May 25, pending a medical report on the child.

The boy, who is the son of Tan’s girlfriend, had sustained bleeding in his brain and a fracture on the base of his skull, from the incident which took place on Mar 25.

The boy is still in hospital but Tan’s lawyer said he “is well”.

If convicted of voluntarily causing grievous hurt, he faces a jail term of up to 10 years, and could also be fined or caned.
