CYCLIST’S LOWER BODY MANGLED AFTER ACCIDENT WITH TRUCK

A 57-year-old Singaporean cyclist was killed in an accident with a tipper truck along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 today.

Paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force were notified at 5.25pm. They pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene.

Callers who alerted the authorities and media said the lower half of the victim’s body was mangled. A bicycle was seen about 50 metres away from his body.

The police said they were notified at about 5.29pm. Upon arrival at the scene, they arrested the 38-year-old Singaporean tipper truck driver for causing death by negligent act.

Police investigations are ongoing.
