We’ve heard this before, and we’re hearing it again. Women in Singapore are not happy with their sex lives and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get better.
Worse still, many are ranking their sexual well-being low in their priority list despite it being important for their overall health.
“Many people do not realise that sexual well-being is important for health, and when we are time strapped, it naturally ranks low on the priority list. Studies have shown that being sexually stimulated, whether through sex or self-pleasure, creates endorphins and oxytocin which in turn trigger positive feelings and wellbeing,” said Professor P. Ganesan Adaikan PhD, a Research Professor, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the National University of Singapore in a release by Smile Makers, a Swedish brand of “friendly” vibrators.
Here’s how bad the situation seems to be, at least according to a survey done by global market research company, TNS.
1. Only 30% of women in Singapore are satisfied with their sex lives
2. Two of the most common reasons that lead to non-satisfaction is the loss of interest in sexual activity and the inability to achieve orgasm.
3. Women in Singapore ranked topmost importance on being financially secure and having good relationships, while ‘Feeling Sexually Satisfied’ ranked the lowest.
The survey was conducted with 800 women in Singapore aged 18 to 50.
