Education Minister Heng Swee Keat, who was formerly the late Lee Kuan Yew’s principal private secretary, had written about a red box that the late LKY used to carry around in a Facebook post last Tuesday.
According to the post, the late LKY used it to record and store materials about his work and had used it up till the day before he was hospitalized in February this year.
That red box is now on display at the National Museum of Singapore as part of the exhibition “In Memoriam: Lee Kuan Yew”.
The exhibition also showcases other personal items belonging to the late LKY, such as his barrister wig after he was admitted to the Bar, and the Rolex Oyster Perpetual wristwatch presented to him by the Singapore Union of Postal and Telecommunications Workers.
After the exhibition ends on 26th April, the box along with LKY’s other personal objects and parts of the memorial exhibition will be incorporated into the National Museum’s permanent exhibits.
