Kenneth Aw strangled a 24 year-old Malaysian woman, who is married with child, before trying to stuff her into a suitcase. After failing to do so, he poisoned her with air refresher liquid, raped her and then used a knife to cut her.
The pair met each other in 2012. Between November 2012 and June 2013, the woman had moved to Singapore from Malaysia to stay with Aw.
They broke up in June 2013 and she moved back to Johor Baru, but then he started threatening to look for her and her family there.
The victim was forced to move back in with Aw for 3 days under duress, but she decided to leave again on 24th June 2013.
Angered by her decision, Aw tried to suffocate the woman with a pillow on her face, and then strangled her. After she became unconscious, Aw thought he had murdered her and called 2 friends up to dispose of the “body”.
Aw then tried to put the victim into a suitcase but found that she could not fit. He then decided to die with her by pouring air freshener liquid into her mouth, which caused her to vomit.
While changing her clothes, he became sexually excited and tried to rape her. Finally, he slashed her wrists and abdomen. He lay down beside her and slashed his own wrists, drank air freshener liquid and took a pill.
But after some time, the victim gained consciousness and wanted to leave. Aw agreed, and she went back to Johor before returning to Singapore one day later to make a police report.
