17 YEAR-OLD STEALS PRIVATE BUS AND DRIVES AROUND SINGAPORE FOR 6 HOURS

A 17 year-old Malay youth hijacked a private bus and went on an island-wide joyride that lasted for 6 hours totaling an estimated 155km around the island.

Despite driving without a driver’s license, the teen took the bus from Woodlands to Ang Mo Kio, Whampoa, East Coast Park, Toa Payoh, Choa Chu Kang, Boon Lay, Jurong East before he was finally arrested at Bukit Batok.

The theft took place at about 9am this morning at an industrial estate in Woodlands, which houses a private bus company’s vehicle parking lots. According to the bus driver assigned to the missing bus today, 55 year-old Mr Zuo discovered that the bus was missing only at about 2pm today. He was originally scheduled drive the bus to Little India.

The company swiftly activated the GPS system on the bus and tracked the bus’ location before sending a search party to locate the missing vehicle.
