Xiao Guiliang, a 31 year-old PRC national, suspected his PRC girlfriend, Zhang Jie, 24, of having an affair.
On 7th July 2013, he went to her flat at Block 674, Choa Chu Kang Crescent to confront her. The two ended up quarrelling.
As Xiao was behaving aggressively towards his girlfriend, Zhang Jie picks up a kitchen knife and warns Xiao to stay away from her. Xiao snatches the knife from Zhang and pins her onto the floor.
Xiao inflicts 192 vicious stab wounds. The injuries are so severe, Zhang’s left eye was dislodged from its socket and a wound on her neck had entirely severed her windpipe.
Police arrived at the scene after neighbours reported hearing Zhang’s screams. They arrest Xiao on the spot.
For this murder, Xiao was jailed for 12 years and will receive 6 strokes of the cane, according to the Singapore courts yesterday. He pleaded guilty to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
