Dear editor
I was visiting my relatives in Serangoon central during Chinese New Year and I walked past a HDB block.
Something on the pillar caught my eye.
I looked up and I was stunned to see a photo (attached below) of our beloved founding father & former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew pasted on the pillar! Shockingly, beneath his photo, there is a portrait of God of Fortune and a bundle of firecrackers! On the side of the photo, there is a couplet which says Chinese New Year brings good fortune.
Honestly, I was a bit amused when I saw Mr Lee's photo surrounded in that setting but I also felt a bit sad.
Are Singaporeans cursing Mr Lee or what? How can Singaporeans forget the sacrifices Mr Lee has made for Singapore? Is this a Feng Shui formation? Can any experts advise?
