MRT NORTH-SOUTH LINE DISRUPTED FOR 90 MINUTES…BUT THIS TIME NOT OPERATOR’S FAULT

Train services between Yew Tee and Jurong East stations were disrupted on 27 Feb for more than 90 minutes after a man intruded onto the tracks, twice.

A man was seen walking on the viaduct between Chua Chu Kang and Bukit Gombak stations at about 8.45pm. SMRT advised the public that there would be additional 15 minutes of travelling time between Yew Tee and Jurong East.

At about 9.30pm, SMRT informed that there would be no train service between Bukit Gombak and Yew Tee because the man had intruded onto the tracks again.

The operator later announced that there would be no train service between Jurong East and Yew Tee in both directions, as it investigated the track intrusion. Free bus services were activated between Jurong East and Yew Tee.

Free shuttle bus services were activated in both instances.

Normal train services resumed at 10.50pm.
