78 WOMEN, INCLUDING A 52 YEAR OLD, NABBED FOR PROSTITUTION IN GEYLANG POLICE OPERATION

A joint police-civil defence operation early on Friday morning saw officers carry out several raids and checks at various shophouses, coffee shops and back-alleys in Geylang. 78 women, aged 17 to 52, were arrested for vice, while 25 motorists were tested for possible drink driving at road blocks.

9 of the 25 motorists, all men between 25 and 57, were arrested for drink-driving. The highest Breath Evidential Analyser (BEA) test result was 56 microgrammes of alcohol every 100 millilitres of breath, which is almost two times higher than the legal limit of 35 microgrammes of alcohol every 100 millilitres of breath.
