BUS DRIVER GETS INTO FIGHT WITH PASSENGER OVER 40 CENTS FARE

A male bus driver and a 59 year-old male security guard got into an argument because the latter did not have enough change to pay for his bus fare.

The argument became so heated, passengers were forced to alight mid-journey and police were called in to investigate.

According to the security guard, he boarded bus 201 last Saturday at the bus stop opposite Block 408, Clementi Avenue 2. As his EZ Link card did not have enough value and he had only 90 cents change and one $50 note, he pleaded with the bus driver to let him pay 90 cents instead of the full fare of $1.30. In return, he would alight one stop earlier from his destination. The bus driver refused, which angered the security guard, who took out his $50 note and shouted “I have money!”
