We are delighted and glad that Minister Khaw has the moral courage to admit that HDB and URA have made a mistake in awarding the tender to a commercial entity to run the Chinese Temple. We thank Minister Khaw for setting this for the record so that in future tender for land slated for religious use will have a clearer directive to prevent commercialization of religions.
However, on the other hand, we hope that Eternal Pureland should seriously consider withdrawal from this current project since the mandate is already made clear. We also hope that HDB could be fair to Eternal Pureland and make full refund to it without any penalty.
Thereafter, we hope that HDB should heed the call of the stakeholders, including but not limited to present and future residents, to allow childcare centre to be built along with the Chinese Temple instead.
