According to a Zaobao web survey conducted recently, more than half of Singaporeans felt the pressure over the heavy burden of raising a family and the higher cost of living.
54.61 percent of the respondents said that they were not poor but they were part of the lower-middle income class who have difficulties in achieve higher aspirations as compared to others with a higher income. The main source of this dissatisfaction is due to the high cost of living.
Nearly 30 percent of the respondents were unable to meet their personal aspirations due to insufficient income.
In addition, 13.18 percent of the respondents noted that the wage increase has not kept up with inflation.
Another 3.28 percent of the respondents believe in investing in their children’s future.
As this is an anonymous web survey, it is not known how many of these respondents are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents.
