On 1 April 2015, Singapore will have a dedicated agency for National Cyber Security.
The Cyber Security Agency (CSA) will be the dedicated oversight of matters related to national cyber security. It will be housed under Prime Minister’s Office.
Minister for Communications and Information Dr Yaacob Ibrahim will be the Minister-in-Charge of Cyber Security. He is also the Minister in-charge of Muslim affairs.
The new agency will take over the roles of Singapore Infocomm Technology Security Authority (SITSA) and some roles of IDA.
The CSA’s portfolio includes the building up of Singapore’s cyber security capabilities, cyber security operations and industry development. It will work closely with partners in the private sector.
Mr David Koh, Deputy Secretary at MINDEF will head the new agency.
Do you think Yaacob Ibrahim is competent enough to be Minister in-charge of this new agency? What do you think?
