The planned manpower boost to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) is laudable. (“Govt announces stronger measures to fight corruption”; Jan 14)
Our Prime Minister took pains to explain the importance of a clean government and how this can affect foreign investments, which are important to Singapore’s survival.
Perhaps, a simple annual declaration of honesty by civil servants, signed and addressed to the Prime Minister’s Office and the CPIB, would reinforce the importance of honesty and enhance integrity in the Civil Service.
This should be taken positively.
One should not be afraid to declare one’s honesty when one has done nothing wrong.
