At 10.44 am (12 January 2015), Indonesian elite divers went to depths of 30 metres to retrieve black boxes belonging to ill-fated flight Air Asia QZ8501.
After shifting through mud and pieces of plane wreckage, the divers finally managed to locate and recover one of the two blackboxes, the flight data recorder.
Later in the morning, Indonesian rescue chief confirmed that only the flight data recorder has been retrieved and that the cockpit voice recorder is still missing.
Officials from Singapore’s Maritime Port Authority and Air Investigation Bureau are on hand to assist in the decoding of the black boxes.
