Some romances never die, and holding hands till they’ve grown old, this couple has lived to tell the tale.

He’s over 70 years old now, and after saving for decades, this elderly man finally scraped together enough money from his scrap-collection job to buy his wife a diamond ring.

The Xinjiang, China native brought his wife to a mall and pampered her by helping her to try on several different rings, until she finally picked one which fit the bill.

When asked why he wanted to buy her a diamond ring, the man replied very plainly “We’ve been leading a hard life. I just hope to cheer her up.”
