SINGAPORE – Tampines GRC MP Baey Yam Keng was hospitalised for dengue fever on Sunday night, just days before his charity play Like Me. I Like is set to open.

In a post on his Facebook page on Monday evening, Mr Baey said he has been monitoring his platelet count since Friday, but it fell below the threshold on Sunday and he was warded.

“At least, I managed to go through the full-dress rehearsal for ‘Like Me.I Like’ yesterday. But I will have to miss my Meet People Session tonight. Doc has advised complete rest so that I can get well soon,” he wrote, with a photo showing a drip inserted in his left arm.

He added that he hopes to be well for the opening night of the play he is producing and starring in on Thursday. “I am sure with a strong will, I can make it.”

The theatre company staging the play, The ETCeteras, said in a statement on Monday that Mr Baey was diagnosed with dengue last Friday.
