In the wake of customer complaints and photographs of cockroaches that went viral online, Marina Bay Sands said that the 1983 – A Taste of Nanyang foodcourt has been closed until further notice “for thorough cleaning”.
“Marina Bay Sands is aware of a pest incident that occurred at one of our tenanted F&B outlets, 1983 – A Taste of Nanyang, located at the South Promenade of The Shoppes, on Oct 6. We immediately took action and worked with the tenant to conduct checks and investigate the incident,” Marina Bay Sands said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 9).
“The outlet is now closed temporarily for thorough cleaning and will reopen upon further notice.
“In the interest of our customers, Marina Bay Sands maintains strict hygiene levels in our operations, and we expect the same level of high standards from our tenants. We will continue to ensure these rules are applied consistently across the property. To prevent this incident from happening again, the tenant will increase the frequency of its pest control checks.”
The 1983 – A Taste of Nanyang foodcourt is run by Koufu. Other branches can be found at Changi Airport Terminal 1, JEM, Republic Polytechnic, ITE Ang Mo Kio and the Nanyang Technological University.
