Some pretty lame comments by Teo Ser Luck about the HLP farce in Suntimes – how we should all have “a listening ear” and things could have been done in a more “friendly manner”.
I would have rather he stood up and blasted the hecklers on-site. If he thinks that would escalate things, at least blast them post-event! On this occasion, I think the majority of the population would have applauded him for being tough on the hecklers.
I can’t forget how GCT responded to Chee Soon Juan heckling him about “where’s our money” a few GEs ago. He merely turned around to face CSJ and looked into his pockets to indicate they were empty – enough to make a monkey out of the heckler. I also recall what LKY said about the GCT gesture – that he himself would be less of a “gentle” man.
I hope the new normal doesn’t mean that the leaders can’t or won’t react on the spot and spontaneously because they want to preserve the image of having a “listening ear”. Some things just can’t be condoned. Have to wait for a Cabinet meeting to come out with a position or what?
