F1 CARS ARRIVE AT GARAGES

Work has already begun in front of Lewis Hamilton’s garage at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, even if the Mercedes star has yet to enter the circuit park.

Forklifts bearing large container boxes were a common sight along the pit straight area last night as logistics workers unloaded the turbo-charged Formula One cars into their team garages.

The ritual marks the unofficial start of the 2014 F1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix race week, filled with driver appearances and promotional events islandwide.

Besides boasting a new title sponsor, the race will also see the new, quieter 1.6-litre V6 engines being unleashed for the first time in an Asian night setting.

Englishman Hamilton could also overtake teammate Nico Rosberg in the drivers championship standings if he wins the race and the German finishes outside the top eight.
