Stomper Alert Man was shocked when he heard a loud explosion at around 8.45pm this evening (Aug 17).

He found out that it happened in the garbage collection area at block 816 Jurong West St 81.

In a phone interview with Stomp, the Stomper said he was taking a shower when he heard a loud “hong” sound.

When he went to check it out, from the fourth storey of his house, he could see the metal door of the garbage collection area was protruded.

He said:

“I’m not sure what caused the explosion, probably gas or a large item someone threw down.

“The police and the fire fighters arrived within 15 minutes and are still investigation even until now (9.50pm).

“At first a small fire engine came. Then, it left 10 minutes later when a larger vehicle with the ladder arrived.

“I don’t think anybody was injured as there was no ambulance.

“Even now, police officers and fire fighters are going in and out of the room.”
