I TEAR UP WHENEVER I WATCH NATIONAL DAY PARADE

I tend to tear up whenever I watch NDP.

This year, though I had tickets to NDP at Floating platform at Marina, I chose not to go as my spine had just been operated on and I felt it was safer to watch from my goggle box.

Tears welled up as I hear my favorite NDP songs; One People, One Nation and My Singapore.

Seeing how frail our 1st Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew is now and young and old at parade would leap out of their seats to welcome him and our 2nd Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong, who is our Emeritus Senior Minister.

These 2 great men created the Singapore we are today.

Like them, I will age in time but the difference between them and I is, unfortunately I am no leader of state. Ha ha!

I see the pride in the junior red lions who trained alongside Red Lions (parachutists from full time uniformed personnel). Barely 11 years old they learnt sky diving.

The floating platform is a sea of red and white as faces are painted with our national flag and participants at NDP wore red and white.

It is prideful to see young and old together at NDP, cheering or clapping at the festivities.

The focus is as PM Lee Hsien Loong said, the best is yet to be. We can achieve and continue to achieve.

Yes, our little red dot is resilient and we intend to stay together as one people tough we know that we are not insulated. When our neighbor sneezes, we catch a cold.

Gaza conflict, China water territorial disputes or even the haze from slash and burn activities by farmers in Malaysia or Indonesia for crops like palm oil or others affects our economy.

Together We will strive as one united little red dot with my little contribution to society.

Yaay!! Happy Birthday Singapore and thank you Mr Lee Kuan Yew, ESM Goh Chok Tong, PM Lee Hsien Loong and DPMs as well as Cabinet Ministers for giving us great GDP like first world countries!

I will continue to work hard with PM Lee Hsien Loong, Mayor Teo Ser Luck, DPM Teo Chee Hean and Minister Lim Swee Say 🙂
