Qrientation 14/15: The Unofficial LGBTQA Freshie Orientation Camp
Wondering how life would be like being gay, lesbian, bi, transgender, queer or questioning (add asexual, pansexual, demisexual and any other non-heteronormative identity that you might identify with) in NUS? Want to make some friends who are also LGBTQA or are straight allies? Just tired of the hetero-normative activities in the other freshmen (how sexist!) camps and want to participate in something more inclusive? Here’s the answer: Qrientation!
Qrientation is the unofficial orientation event for LGBTQA freshmen and freshwomen by LGBTQA seniors. This event is open to both LGBTQA freshmen and freshwomen who will be matriculating at NUS this year. First organised last year in 2013, this is the second time we are organising an orientation event for incoming NUS LGBTQA students to quell your worries and find new friends from the LGBTQA community. Originally known simply as Orientation, we have renamed ourselves as Qrientation to highlight the specific focus of this event on the LGBTQA community in NUS.
Details
Date: 3rd August 2014 (Sunday)
Time: 2pm – 5pm
Venue: Will only be released to registered participants (for safety/privacy reasons)
We hope that from this event, you can get a better idea of what it’s like to be LGBTQA in NUS from hearing seniors share about their experiences and expand your social network in finding new friends and support from other freshmen and freshwomen during your time in NUS.
This event is not organised or affiliated with NUS. This event is organised by a group of LGBTQA seniors from NUS who want to help make embarking on this new chapter in life a little less frightening for our LGBTQA juniors.
