The High Commission of Pakistan in Singapore yesterday claimed the body of Muhammad Noor, 59, whose legless corpse was found in a blood-soaked suitcase last week.

The body of Mr Muhammad, a Pakistani national, will be flown back to his home town in Lahore, Pakistan, this afternoon.

Two other Pakistanis – Rasheed Muhammad, 43, and Ramzan Rizwan, 25 – have been arrested and charged with his murder.

They are accused of killing Mr Muhammad between midnight on June 10 and 6.04pm on June 11 in a room at 6B Rowell Road, where the trio are believed to have stayed since reportedly arriving in Singapore in mid-May to sell tissue paper.

The suitcase was found near the area and the accused pair were nabbed on June 12 at the shophouse in Rowell Road.

Present at the Singapore General Hospital’s mortuary yesterday were two police officers and two members of the High Commission.

Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner Athar Salman told The Straits Times that the next of kin of the victim and the two accused were in touch with his country’s authorities, and that Mr Muhammad’s family would be collecting the body today in Lahore.

He said the High Commission would help procure legal assistance for the two suspects if needed.

The case is expected to be mentioned again in court tomorrow.
