Thirteen foreign workers were arrested after a brawl broke out late Tuesday night at a dormitory in Kaki Bukit.
Police said they received a call at 11.22pm requesting for assistance.
The men are believed to be from India and Bangladesh, and the fight was apparently sparked by a cricket match.
Most of the foreign workers said they were sleeping when the fight broke out after a televised cricket match between Bangladesh and the West Indies.
The West Indies won the game.
Some workers said they were awoken at between 2am and 3am, when police officers came to their rooms to conduct searches.
Chanthanakrishnan Chethapathi, who has worked in Singapore for nine years, said: “I went to sleep at around 8.30pm. At about 3 o’clock, the police came. There was a cricket match between Bangladesh and West Indies. I don’t know who supported who, but there were two men fighting.”
Workers said they believe the police were looking out for specific individuals after checking CCTV footage, as well as any other workers who had injuries.
Channel NewsAsia understands that nobody was taken to the hospital as a result of the incident.
There were also no reports of damage to property.
Police said investigations are ongoing.
