Lee Kuan Yew will miss the Tanjong Pagar Chinese New Year Dinner for the second year in a row as he is now in hospital with an infection.
Lee Kuan Yew, who is 90 years old has been at Singapore General Hospital for 2 days with a high fever and a cough.
He is currently recovering well but his doctors have advised that he should avoid public appearances as he is still a bit weak.
Last year, he also missed the Chinese New Year Dinner which he had previously attended every year and made a speech at because he was unwell.
His press secretary has said that Mr Lee Kuan Yew wishes his residents in Tanjong Pagar a happy Chinese New Year despite his absence at the dinner tonight.
