Boy, 12, refuses to let go of crook even when he gets punched

Unfazed by the two punches to his face, 12-year-old Daniel did not give up chasing the thief who had stolen a mobile phone from a Primary 3 pupil.

He had joined in the chase along Jurong West Street 61 after seeing polytechnic student Anwar chase the thief on Monday afternoon.

Both times that Daniel pulled the man’s bag to stop him from running away, the thief retaliated by punching him.

The thief also tried to bribe Daniel and Mr Anwar twice to let him go, but they stood firm and waited for police to arrive and arrest him.

Daniel played down his bravery and said: “I just did what needed to be done.”
